Earlier this week one my students brought the Matt Black version of this guitar to his lesson. The case name registered but while I tuned the guitar I didn’t clock the name on the headstock. I was actually taken aback at how playable this guitar is.

It took me a while to realize that the guitar was the same brand as the case. Once I associated the two items I was shocked(hyperbole be damned).

The thing is buying your first guitar or purchasing a loved one’s first guitar is a difficult proposition – what are you looking for? How much do you want to spend – buy crap, buy twice.

No one wants to spank 300 to 400 quid on their first instrument neither do they want to buy some glorified firewood.

I would normally recommend the Yamaha F310 and still do – I also really like the Tanglewood Crossroads both brilliant guitars in this proce range of £100-£200

That said though the amount of kit with the Donner is pretty impressive – the case alone is well made – padded and sturdy – its also comes with Capo, Strap, Plectrums, Spare stings and a digital tuner!
