Crystal – Free VST soft synth and rompler plugin
Crystal is a really cool soft synth created by Green Oak.
It’s been around for a good few years now and never ceases to impress.
It’s developed over the years integrating Soundfonts, wave sequencing and hard oscillation sync.
As with most soft synths it does take a bit of getting used to but it’s worth it.
There are lot’s of variants in making sounds/patches – there are four voice pages as above – each with it’s own tweakable parameters including the usual filters, oscillators and amps.
To add that little bit more choice in tweakage is the mixing page.
You can also set a partnership up between two seperate patches – this is called the breed function and cuteley they’ve called this mother and father.
Anyway give it a go and download it – but as always remember to support your software -find a way to donate if you use it.
Crystals developers do not seek payment from users but if you want to show your appreciation.
‘Crystal is a labor of love, so I don’t accept payments from Crystal users. However, if you feel you’d like to express your thanks in a financial way, here’s a worthy organization that could put your check or international money order to good use (enclose a note to let them know you heard about them from Green Oak.):‘

What They say –
‘Crystal is a semi-modular software synthesizer featuring both subtractive synthesis and frequency modulation (FM) synthesis. It offers abundant modulation control with over 90 parameters which may be modulated, multi-stage envelopes with graphical editors, extensive tempo sync of envelopes/lforates/delay times, built-in effects for chorus/flanging/comb filtering/echoes, and a band splitter for effects processing by frequency band. Not only that, Crystal has wave sequencing, granular synthesis, program morphing, MIDI learn, and imports soundfonts. The musical applications for Crystal are literally boundless.’ – Greenoak
