Building your own vst plugins

I’ve seen this mentioned a fair few times over the past few months.

Synthedit

SynthEdit is a Modular Synthesiser for Windows XP and Vista.  With SynthEdit you can design your own Synth from the ground up.  Drag and drop modular components, connect them with virtual “patch cords”.

Also has lots of online support and tips via

Yahoo Groups – SynthEdit online discussion group.  Includes file area with example Synths, Effects and prefabs.
SynthEdit Wiki – Site for the SynthEdit community to help each other by collectively building a knowledgebase of tips, tricks, tutorials etc.

Sythmaker

SynthMaker is an audio programming tool that allows anyone to create their own sounds, virtual instruments and effects without having to write any code. These instruments and effects can then be used for playing live via MIDI or as VST plugins for use in making music using any of the popular recording software.

I’ve used synthedit for an hour or so and got nowhere, but to be honest I had no idea what I was doing ha ha.

But I intend to get stuck in and hopefully that will become a part of this site eventually.

It’s something I find very interesting.

Have fun.
